Varanasi: On the occasion of “Eighth International Yoga Day 2022”, Jal Yoga is being organized under the patronage of University Sports Council Vice President Professor Dinesh Chandra Rai and General Secretary Professor Abhimanyu Singh. For men, women, and students trainees and swimmers in BHU Swimming Pool. There are different batches for people of all age groups. The mass practice of water yoga is being done regularly in different sessions in the swimming pool which will culminate on International Yoga Day on 21st June 2022.
To keep oneself physically and mentally fit and beat the heat in the summer season, AQUAYOGA – water yoga is considered one of the best ways. It is believed to be a particularly relaxing, soothing, and restorative form of yoga because of the effects on the body of being in the water. Chief Guest Dr. Sunita Chandra, Joint Registrar Recruitment and Assessment Cell, RAC, Banaras Hindu University, and Distinguished Guest Dr. Rashmi Ranjan, Dy. Registrar, IMS, Banaras Hindu University witnessed the AQUAYOGA session and loaded the initiative.
Dr. Sunita Chandra said that the theme of the 8th International Yoga Day is Yoga for Humanity. So to save humanity we all should come together and work in this regard. She also encouraged participants to make people of all age groups aware of the ancient and modern scientific effects of water yoga. Dr. Kavita Verma, assistant director of the swimming pool and the convener of water yoga, welcomed the guests as well as made everyone aware of the benefits of water yoga. She said the buoyancy effect of water removes the pressure of a person's weight from the joints, alleviating the pain or discomfort that people experience while doing water yoga.
Since the body bears less weight in water, the muscles are relaxed and hence can be performed more efficiently with less incidence of injury. Water yoga is one of the best exercises for every age group, especially in older age groups. Exercising or exercising on a hard surface puts more pressure on the joints and at the same time there are more chances of getting injured, water yoga is the best option for such people. On this occasion, Professor Royna Singh, and Dr. Jaya Chakraborty, who have been members of the swimming pool for many years, also urged people to take benefit of the opportunity. Officials and staff members of the University Sports Council were also present on this occasion. Today's water yoga was practiced under the guidance of Yogacharya Kush Ji, Smt. Renee and Rita Ji.
