National Workshop and Certification Programme on “First Aid & CPR” in Collaboration With Life Saving Society of India

The Department of Physical Education, Faculty of Arts, Banaras Hindu University is going to organize a Five Days National Workshop and Certification Programme on First Aid & CPR in Collaboration with the Life-Saving Society of India i.e., from 10th to 14th June 2022 at the Dronacharya Awardee Prof. Karan Singh Hall ( Seminar Hall), Department of Physical Education, BHU (for Lecture Sessions) and Room No 5 for Practical Sessions. The main purpose of this National Workshop is to promote Certified First Aid & CPR providers who give immediate assistance to any person who is in an emergency situation like injury illness or cardiopulmonary arrest to preserve life and promote recovery. The objectives are – to preserve life, prevent further harm and promote recovery. Awareness about the help given to a sick or injured person until full medical treatment is available. To develop awareness regarding various emergency conditions and how to tackle them.
This workshop comprises of total 12 sessions for five days and includes basic concepts of First Aid & CPR. When people understand first aid, they'll gain the ability to help those in need. Through our first aid certification, programme participants will learn how to respond to specific situations, which will help them to care for people in crisis as they wait for medical professionals to arrive. This gives them the best opportunity for a positive outcome – and allows participants to change someone's life for the better.
Moreover, the workshop will provide a platform for acquiring the knowledge of thirty protocols of First Aid & CPR Programme like Introduction To First Aid; “First Aid” The Noble Act, Checking The ABCs; Airway, Breathing, Compression, Cardiac And Respiratory Arrest, Stroke – Brain Attack, Choking, Drownings Or Near – Drownings, Diabetic Emergencies, Snake Bite, Bleeding, Hypothermia And Frostbite, Dislocations, Emergency Child Birth, Heat Stroke And Heat Injuries, Electric Shock And Seizures. The practical knowledge of First Aid & CPR is applicable forto the general public in various fields and places like at home, workplace, playground, travelling, for saving lives in an emergency.
Approximately 150 delegates from different states of the country have registered for this workshop. For the quality assurance, only 40 shortlisted participants have been registered for the workshop. Prof. Anil Kumar Paswan, Department of Anaesthesiology IMs BHU, Prof Gopal Nath Department of Microbiology, IMS BHU, DR J.P. Mishra, Diabetes & Health Practitioner, Varanasi, Mr Analava Majumdar Senior Executive Project LSSI, Kolkata, Mr Sumit Ghosh, Senior Trainer LSSI Kolkata, Rupak dey, trainer LSSI Kolkata will be imparting the training and information as experts in this workshop.
The workshop will be formally inaugurated by the chief guest Prof. Arun Kumar Singh Registrar, BHU on June10, 2022 at 11:00 am in Dronacharya Awardee Prof. Karan Singh Hall( Seminar Hall), Department of Physical Education, BHU Further, the function will be presided over by Dr Sanjay Kumar (Joint Registrar BHU).
The chief patron of the workshop is Prof. Sudhir Kumar Jain ( Vice-Chancellor, BHU) and the patron of the organising committee will be Prof. Vijay Bahadur Singh (Dean, Faculty of Arts), whereas, Prof. Rajiv Vyas (Head, Department of Physical Education) will be the workshop director, Prof. Dilip Kumar Dureha, Prof Sushma Gildya, Prof B.C. Kapri, Prof Abhimanyu Singh, Prof Vikram Singh, and Prof T. Onima Reddy are Workshop Advisors,. The workshop organising secretary will be Dr Abhishek Verma, while Dr Akhil Mehrotra and Krishnkant will be the joint organising secretaries’ respectively. Whereas, Dr Pradeep Singh Chahar will be the treasurer for this workshop.
The other respected members of the organizing Committee are Dr Binayak Kumar Dubey, Dr Shailesh Kumar, and Dr Linet Khakha, The valedictory function will be held on June14th, 2022 at the Dronacharya Awardee Prof. Karan Singh Hall( Seminar Hall), Department of Physical Education, BHU 01:00 pm onwards.
