BHU : Prof. Arun Deo Singh, Professor, Department of Geology, Banaras Hindu University, will serve as an editorial board member of an internationally renowned journal “Global and Planetary Change” of Elsevier publishing company, Netherlands.
BHU : The Elsevier journal with an impact factor of 5.114 has published 213 volumes since 1989 when it was founded. The journal provides a multi-disciplinary overview of the processes taking place in the Earth System and involved in planetary change over time. As a monthly peer-reviewed international journal, it focuses on records of the past and current state of the earth system, and future scenarios, and their link to global environmental change.
To further improve its reach and quality, the journal’s editorial board invited Professor Singh, a well-known Indian Micropaleontologist and Paleoceanographer. Professor Singh has over 30 years of research and teaching experience and is currently working on various research themes like Global ocean-climate change and role of oceans in driving climate variability; South Asian Monsoon variability and rapid climate change, its atmospheric-oceanic tele-connections with high latitude climatic perturbations, and low-latitude climate components; Spatio-temporal changes of aragonite production, accumulation and dissolution in Arabian Sea and their implications to deep ocean circulation and climate change; Impact of climate change on marine biota particularly in the Arabian Sea oxygen minimum zone, etc.
Professor Singh is the author of over 85 peer-reviewed scientific papers from international journals and 8 book chapters. He has also reviewed numerous research articles belonging to various journals of international repute. He has delivered lectures, invited talks and presented his work at various national and international conferences and symposiums.
Before accepting the invitation, Professor Singh has been the editorial board member of several international academic journals. These journals include Discovery: An International multidisciplinary Journal, Journal of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (Science PG, U.S.A), International Journal of Ocean and Oceanography, Journal of the Paleontological Society of India, etc...
