A scholarship distribution function was organized
Varanasi: A scholarship distribution function was organized on Friday for the visually impaired students at BHU. The program was organised by the Finance Officer, BHU and the scholarships were given by Help the Blind Foundation (HTBF). HTBF was founded by Shri D. K Patel in 2005 in HongKong. Foundation’s mission is to provide access to university education thereby enabling visually-impaired students in India. The Foundation has provided 10787 scholarships so far, around 3000 scholarships are distributed across India this year.
Help the Blind Foundation’s mission is to provide access to university education thereby enabling visually-impaired students in India to get jobs in today’s modern economy. Towards this mission, HTBF also provides skills training through, coaching for examinations and personal development initiatives.
The program began at 4pm in the Satabdi Krishi Presha Griha , Krishi Vigyan Sansthan with Malyanparn & Deep Prajwalan. Visually impaired students of the faculty of performing arts beautifully presented the kulgeet. HTBF Managing Trustee Mr. N. Sivaji Rao joined the program online and welcomed the delegates and emphasized that the goal of HTBF is to ensure good university education in an inclusive environment and help them become independent in life.
HTBF Trustee Mrs. Deepa Krishnamoorthy, daughter of the founder Late Shri D.K. Patel encouraged the students to excel in life and thanked all the members of the BHU Administration, especially the Finance Officer and his team for the speedy disbursal of the scholarship.
Prof. Arun Kumar Singh, Registrar, BHU presided over the function. In his presidential address Prof. Singh landed the efforts of HTBF for providing scholarships to the visually impaired students. He said that this will pave way for better future of such students. Dr Abhay Thakur, F.O , BHU inaugurated the scholarship distribution. Concerned Deans and Directors of the Faculty and Dean of Students Welfare, BHU Prof. K.K. Singh along with HTBF volunteer Dr Raka Ray Mandal participated in the faculty wise scholarship distribution. Dr Sanjay Kumar, J.R. (A/C1) was also present in the Scholarship distribution programme.
Dr Raka Ray Mandal, Varanasi Volunteer, HTBF informed that this year about 124 students from Varanasi are receiving scholarships among about 45% are girls. Each student is getting INR 10,000. Among these students, 116 students are from BHU FMC , MMV and VKM. 8 students are from DAV and other colleges. The Program was conducted by Dr. Ramesh Kumar Nirmesh, Section Officer, Trade Bill, Finance, Officer, BHU
The program was concluded with the National Anthem.
