The Union Cabinet chaired by PM Modi on Wednesday approved the extension of the campaign from April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2026.

Giving information about the decisions of the cabinet, Union Minister Anurag Thakur said that Rs 5,911 crore will be spent in the campaign going on in all the states and union territories of the country. In this, the Center will bear Rs 3,700 crore and the state will bear Rs 2,211 crore.

60 percent increase in the budget of Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan

He said that the budget of Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan has been increased by 60 percent. Capacity building is being enhanced using technology. Under this, 1.65 lakh more people will be trained.

2.78 lakh rural local bodies will get help

He said that the campaign would help 2.78 lakh rural local bodies to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal. Along with this, social justice and economic development will be ensured. This will achieve the goals of transparency and service delivery.

Assistance received from Central Government in 3 years

Explain that for the strengthening of Panchayats under RGSA, during the last three years, the States and Union Territories have received financial assistance of Rs.1508.728 crore. And under the scheme of RGSA, computers and peripherals have also been sanctioned for 37,516 panchayats during the last three years.
