Railways started door-to-door delivery service with the Department of Post office

Indian Railways passenger takes full care of the convenience of its passengers. In such a situation, now a special service has been started for those who send parcels by rail. Railways and India Post will work together to serve their customers.

JPP Service

In fact, a 'Joint Parcel Product' (JPP) of India Post and Indian Railways is being developed, in which initial and end end connectivity will be provided by the Department of Posts. Railway, Communications and Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnav gave information about this. He informed that JPP aims to target business-to-business and business-to-customer by providing a holistic parcel solution like pickup, booking and doorstep delivery of parcels from the consignor's premises.

Now the parcel will be able to sit at home

He informed that JPP has been started on pilot project basis by Indian Railways and India Post. The first service of the pilot project has been started from Surat to Varanasi on 31 March 2022. India Post will do the booking, picking up the parcel from your home. The railway will deliver that parcel to the nearest railway station to the specified address. Indian Post will pick up the parcel from the railway station and deliver it to its final destination. JPP has been started on pilot project basis by Indian Railways and India Post.

Let us tell you that even earlier parcels were sent from one place to another through railways. But then people needed to go to the parcel room of the railway station to make a booking to send their luggage. Then the postal department was responsible for this. After this service, now railways has also joined it, which will make parcel service more consumer friendly.
