A one-day (23 April 2022) training program for agricultural entrepreneurs and innovators to become soil doctors at the Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Banaras Hindu University was organized under the supervision of Dr. Amitav Rakshit. This training program was organized to promote agricultural productivity through soil testing. The program started with fifty trainees and completed in the auditorium of the institute.


In the inaugural session, the Head of Faculty and Director of the Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Prof. Yashwant Singh talked about using the least amount of pesticides in agriculture by conducting soil tests, managing the proper amount of nutrients for the plants and for the treatment of diseases at the right time, so that the minimum amount of chemical substances is added to the product. residual effect. Head of the Department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry Prof. Nirmal Dey said that this training program is timely and it is absolutely needed in the present environment. The coordinator of the training program Dr. Amitav Rakshit said that with this training, agricultural entrepreneurs will be able to give information about soil testing to the farmers in the villages immediately.
