- Concluding workshop on communication skills for students of Banaras Hindu University
Varanasi : Effective communication is not just limited to performing well in the interview, but it is also very important to enhance one's personality further. The students returned with this mantra after attending a ten-day workshop on communication skills organized for the students of the university in the Journalism and Mass Communication Department of Banaras Hindu University.
Addressing the concluding ceremony of the workshop on Thursday, the coordinator of the University Placement Coordination Cell, Prof. V.K. Chandola said that sometimes even talented and academically performing students are not successful in the interviews. One important reason for this is the lack of effective communication.
In such a situation, not only does it affect the morale of the students, sometimes the image of the institution is also affected. Keeping this in mind, communication workshop has been started for the students of the university. Pro. Chandola said that it is the effort of the University Placement Coordination Cell to organize these workshops on a wide scale in the university, so that more and more students can take advantage of it and face the challenges of the future with confidence.
Head of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication Prof. Shishir Basu said that effective communication makes your personality dominant and you leave your mark wherever you go. Be it your family, friends, community, society or the organization where you are working. Pro. Basu said that if you are full of confidence then no one can stop you from succeeding in any area of life. In such a situation, it is very important to focus on effective communication skills in student life.
On this occasion, students participating in the workshop from various institutes and faculties also shared their experiences. The students said that they came to know about many such things which would help them in presenting themselves better.
In the program, certificates were distributed to the students who participated actively and seriously in the workshop. Dr. Neha Pandey conducted the program. Training and Placement Officer Dr. Umesh Singh was also present on the occasion.
In this 10-day workshop, the students were made aware of all the things which are important for improving their communication skills. During this, students were made aware of many aspects including resume writing, group discussion, mock interview, group activities, necessary computer software.
