Due to the systematic flood rescue work of the state government, there was no flood situation anywhere in the state.

Basti April 20, 2022 Under the able leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Irrigation and Flood Control Department of the state has carried out project and maintenance work on the embankments to a safe level before the rainy season, along with continuous vigilance, patrolling on the embankments. Flood fighting work was done at a fast pace by forming flood protection committees in the area and establishing constant coordination with them and wherever information was received about erosion in the embankment. Due to the speedy work done by the government, the inundation due to damage to the embankments, the loss of public money and the loss of crops became almost zero. For the first time, the people living on the banks of the embankment felt themselves safe even during the rainy season due to the above work system of the Irrigation Department.
In the event of excessive rainfall in the catchment of the existing rivers by the State Government, from the catchment of the rivers at different places to the high level maintenance of the places falling at different places in the boundaries of Uttar Pradesh, the district administration and the concerned officials are being prepared to deal with the floods. A warning was given for Due to this methodology, due to excessive rainfall in the territories adjoining the borders of Uttar Pradesh and the nation of Nepal, the discharge of up to 22 lakh cusecs flowing in Yamuna, Chambal, Ken, Betwa, Rihand, Ghaghra (Sarayu), Rapti, Rohin, Gandak, Ganga was also easily transported in the borders of Uttar Pradesh, whereas the states adjoining the state like Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar were badly affected by the floods due to the above-mentioned rain.
In this year too, at present, heavy water flow is being transported easily in the rivers. Continuous monitoring is being done day and night by the officers/employees of the well-organized Irrigation and Water Resources Department of the government. Sensitive places have been secured by getting immediate work done as per the requirement. The flood situation remained under control in the state.
Taking an unprecedented step, the state government has started a campaign to clean all the drains with the aim of minimizing the inundation in rural areas, which had never happened before. Under this, the dens of the Irrigation Department are being cleaned in full length. In this program, repairing and painting of damaged bridges/culverts on Den is being done. This innovative campaign is being welcomed by the people of the state. With the completion of this work, there has been less flooding in the rural areas.
With a view to reduce the excessive pressure on the river banks due to the formation of shoals due to excessive sedimentation being carried in the rivers during the rainy season, the erosion in the river banks is being minimized by carrying out channelization work in the middle of the shoals. . Elgin-Charsari embankment on Ghaghra river in Gonda district, Chandapur village in Balrampur district, Kalwari Rampur and Kataria Chadpur in district Basti, Kharagpur, Sahapur, Sopai, Bhagne and Malouni in district Gorakhpur, Lahsari near village, Ahirolidan in district Kushinagar. Nearby dredging works have been successful. As a result of dredging, keeping the pressure on the dams minimal during the rainy season, siltation has been observed in the above area after the rainy season, which has led to the restoration of agricultural land.
The state government has repaired the raincuts, pits, ratholes and ravines etc. of the embankments during the floods and all the raincuts that occurred during the rainy season were immediately rectified. Full arrangement of reserve stock was made at sensitive/vulnerable sites. Flood outposts remained functional, wherever the information of erosion was received, immediate and prompt action was taken on it. Flood control rooms were functional 24 hours a day at 48 places in the state from June 15 to October 15. 113 wireless stations remained functional for alerting of flood alerts. The vulnerable sites on which flood projects were not approved, were provided security by getting necessary work done from the maintenance head. Monitoring was done by the officials at sensitive places. Arrangements were made for monitoring by generators, lights, petromex and guards at all vulnerable sites/embankments. The flood rescue works were carried out by the department in coordination with the district administration, due to which there was no flood situation in the state.
In the state, 24 flood-affected districts are sensitive and 16 districts are sensitive. To protect against floods, 523 embankments (length 3869.00 km) have been constructed on various rivers. There are 10675 drains (length approx 59212.00 kms) under Irrigation Department. This year in 2021-22, 23043 km of drains have been cleaned. 166 flood projects were completed in the year 2021-22. During the rainy season, continuous monitoring of embankments and immediate rescue/security arrangements have been made in case of emergency. In view of the neighboring states of Uttar Pradesh and the rivers coming from the nation of Nepal, coordination was done with neighboring states, Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and for flood management from the nation of Nepal. Due to which the flood remained under control.
