BHU LAUNCHES SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
Foreign students will get Rs 6000 scholarship every month
The aim is to increase the number of foreign students taking admission in the university
Varanasi: Banaras Hindu University, granted IoE status under the Institution of Eminence initiative of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, is making a new beginning to encourage and motivate foreign students.
The university has started a new scholarship scheme with the intention of increasing the number of foreign students taking admission here. Under the scheme, every foreign student will be provided a scholarship of Rs 6000 every month, which will be increased every year on the basis of satisfactory performance.
If a student already has a scholarship of lesser amount, he/she will be entitled to the difference. The scholarship scheme for foreign students was approved by the Vice Chancellor Prof. The approval was given in a meeting of the Governing Body of the Institution of Eminence, Banaras Hindu University, chaired by Sudhir Kumar Jain.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Jain has said that the members of the Banaras Hindu University family will have to work hard to bring BHU among the top universities of the world.
This scholarship scheme is one of the steps being taken to achieve this goal. For effective and smooth implementation and monitoring of the scheme, the university has constituted a three-member committee. Applications for this scheme will be received in the Institution of Eminence Cell.
The Banaras Hindu University, located in the ancient city of Varanasi, a symbol of knowledge, education and culture, is known worldwide for its distinction. Various courses are available in the university in various disciplines including humanities, social sciences, medicine, technology, science, arts and performing arts, which makes the name of BHU as the capital of all learning in the true sense.
Every year hundreds of foreign students from all over the world take admission in Banaras Hindu University, which offers various courses including Bachelor's, Master's, PhD and Diploma in Agriculture Science, Arts, Social Science, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Law, Commerce and Science subjects. study in. At present 15 percent of the total seats in the university are admitted to foreign students.
These seats are supernumerary for foreign students. Presently 431 foreign students from about 40 countries are studying in BHU. These include 261 boys and 170 girls, who are from America, Brazil, France, Russia, Ireland, Australia, Yemen, Iran, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, South Korea, Thailand, Myanmar and Cambodia, among many other countries.
This scholarship scheme is expected to increase the number of foreign students taking admission in BHU. At the same time, the plan is also in line with the spirit of the National Policy on Education, 2020, which seeks to internationalize India's education system by bringing in more foreign students into Indian educational institutions.
