A National Webinar on Current Perspectives of Intellectual Property Rights organized by Department of Zoology, MMV, BHU

 

A national Webinar on ‘Current Perspectives of Intellectual Property Rights’ was organized by Department of Zoology, MMV on 19th April 2022 under the efficient guidance of Prof. Inu Mehta, Principal, Mahila Mahavidyalaya and Chairperson of the webinar. The event started with floral tribute to Pt. Madan Mohan Malaviya Ji followed by Kulgeet. Prof. Sunita Singh (convenor) welcomed the eminent speakers Dr. Gouri Gargate (Assistant Professor, IIT, Kharagpur) and Prof. B.K. Singh (Department of Physics, Institute of Science, Chairperson of Task Force, IPR Cell, Banaras Hindu University). Dr. Gargate talked about importance and different types of Intellectual Property (IP) in academics. She also discussed about copyrights, knowledge economy, patent & project planning and processing of IP activities including steps of patent filling. Prof. B.K. Singh has given talk on ‘Accelerating the pace of IPR at BHU’. He discussed about key challenges, impacts and opportunities of intellectual property for BHU. He highlighted the quality publications, patents filed and extramural funds generated for BHU compared with other Universities and Institutes in India. He also mentioned the processes and funding supports provided by Institution of Eminence, BHU for patent filing. He encouraged faculty members of BHU for enhancing the number and quality of publications as well as patents for improving the global ranking of BHU.

   The compering of webinar was executed by Dr. Subhasini. The webinar ended with formal vote of thanks by Prof. Karuna Singh (Convenor). This webinar was successfully organized by Prof. Poonam Singh (Program Advisor), Prof. Rashmi Singh (co-convener), Dr. Gautam Geeta J. and Dr Usha Kumari (organizing secretaries), Dr. Subhasini, Dr. Anima Tripathi and Dr. Ganesh Kumar Maurya (organizing members).
