BHU : An art exhibition is being organized at Ahivasi Art Gallery, Faculty of visual Arts, Banaras Hindu University from 09th March to 14 March, 2022. Title of the exhibition is ‘1st Quarter’, which is based on human life and environment told the curator of the exhibition Dr. Suresh Jangid. Around 40 art works including Paintings, Sculptures and Installations have been exhibited expressing the maturity of expression and command on the medium. These12 young artists from Varanasi intend to spread the environmental awareness.
At a large, this exhibition focuses on the issues directly associated with nature and the people. The issues of environment, deforestation and many more diverse forms find their appropriate place in the art works presented here. Interestingly, the tilte’1st Quarter’ suggests the natural milestone of human life cycle as well as the youth energy at the same time. The artists are at their threshold of crossing 25 years and this brimmed up enthusiasm was looking for such public interaction since the pandemic. This experience has toned their understanding and sensibilities. At this juncture they have been trying to fathom the relationship of nature and human being. They have some questions, which took shape during their creative process making us to ponder over. Besides, some other art works take us to a different world of imagination, natural serenity, spiritual and mythology. As the city of Varanasi has its peculiar character having tradition in one hand and modern at the other, so does the exhibition harmonizing and encompassing various hues of human life. The purpose of this exhibition is to initiate a reciprocation of thoughts between artist and the visitor through the work of art. This exhibition will be on view till 14th of march.
Participating artists are Nikhilesh Prajapati, Suraj Bali Varma, Roshani Singh, Roshani Patel, Gulshan Sonkar, Susheel Kumar Bheem, Ayushi Keshari, Akash Gupta, Harshita Pathak, Vivek Pathak and Sagar Gupta. The exhibition was inaugurated by renowned Poetess and Chairperson, Aacharya Ramchandra Shukla Institute of Research in Literature along with Prof. Hiralal Prajapati, Dean, Faculty of Visual Arts, Banaras Hindu University.
