As part of the year-long “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” celebrations

Varanasi :  As part of the year-long “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” celebrations, a science week is planned during 22nd and 28th February 2022 by the Government of India. The Department of Science and Technology as part of the celebrations is organizing Awareness Programs under the ‘Synergistic Training Program Utilizing Scientific and Technological Infrastructure’ (STUTI) program of the Research and Development Infrastructure Division. The program envisions hands-on-training and sensitization of the state-of-the-art equipment as well as towards sharing while ensuring transparent access of Sciene and Technology facilities. The Awareness program encompasses science popularization among school students by means of exposure and short demonstration on Research and Development equipment.

In response to the call of the Department of Science and Technology of Govt. of India, Institute of Science of Banaras Hindu University organised today one day science awareness program for school students of various schools of Varanasi. Here is name of the schools who were participating today’s programme.

A presentation on ‘Biological Sciences- Glimpses of research facilities at BHU’ delivered by Dr Prashant Singh, Dept. of Botany Student interactive session with the faculty Prof. NVC Rao, Dr Samarendra K Singh, Dr Amiya Samal, Dr Rohit Pandey, Dr Anand Singh, Dr. Prashant Singh). Students ask questions on various topics and scientists answered their queries with relevant examples. The session was very interesting.

After lunch students visited Central Discovery centre which is the hub of innovation and research at BHU. Students also visited QPCR lab of Botany Dept and Fly & Chromosome lab of Zoology Dept,  at  TEM and AFM lab of Physics Department, NMR and Raman lab of Chemistry Department, Museum and EPMA at  Geology Department.

Students become very much motivated and inspired after getting the practical exposure of different research laboratories of science.
